In addition to meeting the requirements of the University and the College of Arts and Letters, students must meet the department requirements specified below:
- Course Work: Approved course of study of a minimum of 33 credits, as approved by the student’s Guidance Committee. This includes completion of either:
- Thesis Research (Plan A)
- Capstone Project (Plan B)
- Dissertation Proposal: Students will create and share their dissertation proposal with their Guidance Committee and pass an oral examination in advocacy of their proposal.
- Doctoral Dissertation Research Credits: All doctoral students must register for and successfully complete a minimum of 24 credits and no more than 36 credits of doctoral dissertation research (AAAS 999).
- Dissertation Offering and Celebration: Students will create, share, and successfully advocate for their doctoral dissertation.
Any substitutions for these requirements must be approved by the Director of Graduate Studies.
