Taught by Dr. Yvonne Morris, Spring 2023’s AAAS 100 class will be hosting their end of year symposium in North Kedzie Hall on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 11:00-12:00pm. To prepare for the symposium, students submitted their Call for Proposals that were aligned with the symposium’s theme and incorporated aspects of past, present, and future pathways. The theme for the symposium is Catch the Fire inspired by Sonia Sanchez’s poem Don’t Kill Dub. In response to the theme, topic selections could be those we already explored in class or those of academic, professional, or personal interest. Students were encouraged to consider workshops, presentations, skill- and resource sharing, performances, or other formats of creative interaction and critical engagement. Students also submitted annotated bibliographies with sources to support their creative work.
