Professor Gianina K.L. Strother is happy to share that there will be a guest artist talk with Chido Johnson, co-founder of the Zimbabwe Cultural Centre of Detroit and Haleem ‘Stringz’ Rasul, dancer and filmmaker of Hardcore Detroit on Wednesday, March 15th at 9am.
Johnson and Rasul will join AAAS 402 Producing Culture (and students at Makerere University in Uganda) to discuss their cultural exchange program, the Detroit Zimbabwe JIT Exchange. In addition to the talk, there will be a demonstration of the local style of dance called the Detroit Jit.
Please share with your classes and anyone that you think this talk/demonstration will resonate with! If you ever wanted to know how to JIT or what it is, please swing by the dance/wellness studio (N202) in North Kedzie Hall on Wednesday, March 15th at 9:15am.
